April Spears is a San Francisco native and owner of Auntie April's Chicken, Waffles, and Soul Food in San Francisco, California. Her love affair with food started in her grandmother's kitchen, where she learned to cook Texan and Louisiana-style cuisine. April's recipes are a unique blend of Southern flavors, which has made her take on home-style food a local favorite. Chef April is the previous owner of Olivia's Soul food restaurant in San Francisco which was established in 2006.

After two years of successful operating experience April decided to depart the partnership and open her own restaurant. Despite it being the height of the recession April opened her doors in May 2008. In 2010 April was recognized by the City and county of San Francisco as an Emerging Entrepreneur. She received several certificates of recognition from Mayor Gavin Newsome, current Mayor Edwin Lee, San Francisco board of supervisors, Renaissance Center of Entrepreneurship, and many local organizations.

Auntie April has also been recognized by KQED Check please bay area where her restaurant was favorably featured.

April has demonstrated her culinary abilities on many local platforms as well as national , with cooking demonstrations aboard Carnival Cruise Lines, Kaiser Permanente, and Macy's San Francisco to name a few. Nine years later April is still in Bayview serving up more than just chicken and waffles, she's a mentor to the youth in her community and has instructed several children's healthy eating classes for the San Francisco Unified School District. April serves up home-style comfort food and southern hospitality which will fill both your stomach and your soul. Offering signature dishes like red velvet waffles, James jambalaya, Olivia's Oxtails, Auntie Aprils award winning Shrimp n grits, not to mention she serves breakfast all day! So come on down and see for yourself there is something for everyone, all of her dishes are pork free even the bacon!
